Capturing the spirit of Los Angeles—California Community Foundation's annual report

The California Community Foundation’s (CCF) 2014 Annual Report tells a compelling story. Cause Communications helped CCF create a powerful, eye-catching and compelling anthology that brought needed attention to the optimistic spirit of Los Angeles philanthropy they embody.

“Land of Dreams” captures the story of CCF’s impact in Los Angeles through the candid first-person stories and unflinching portraits of the donors and program teams who make CCF’s work possible, and the individuals they serve. Our concept was inspired by a popular photoblog, Humans of New York (HumansOfNewYork.com). The award-winning blog, which has been turned into a New York Times Best Seller book, features street photographs and brief interview excerpts. The photos we chose to feature in the print and digital versions of the Annual Report capture something essential about the indomitable human spirit, and, in combination with powerful quotes, illustrate how a city’s progress can be measured one person at a time.
