Rancho Rising 2020: Building on our History of Hope and Healing

Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, a long-time client of Cause Communications (HCC), is undergoing a state-of-the-art renovation to enhance care for patients with disabilities, and we are at the helm to provide external communications for the project. From conceiving the inspiring project name of “Rancho Rising 2020” to coordinating media outreach, HCC is honored to support the work of Rancho Los Amigos, a gem of LA County’s Department of Public Health.

Earlier this month, LA County Supervisor Don Knabe, a faithful advocate for Rancho for years, broke ground for the Wellness and Aquatic Therapy Center, which will be the first new building constructed under Rancho Rising 2020, due to be completed in August 2016. HCC secured media coverage before and after the event, facilitating a strong turnout of county officials, community members, Rancho staff and patients. The event was unique for a groundbreaking, convening speakers from across the city and county before Hector “Juice” Duron, a former patient and current peer mentor, concluded the ceremony with a moving rendition of Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying.”

The patient stories are the heart of what makes Rancho special. HCC has worked with officials from across LA County to promote Rancho’s legacy of care since 2012, and I’ve witnessed many of them moved to tears when sharing what they love about the hospital. Patients and their families have shared with me that the community at Rancho is their second family, and recovery after a life-changing illness or accident would not have been possible without the support and care provided at Rancho. Growing up with a brother with Down Syndrome, I understand the importance of ensuring the ones you love get the right care and the value of having a supportive community when the future is uncertain. Rancho ensures that emotional and physical care is in place for all patients who walk through its doors, and the renovations will ensure that Rancho can provide the best care available with technological updates and facility improvements.

Rancho Rising 2020 will usher in a new era of restoring health, rebuilding life and revitalizing hope in LA County. Recent legislation has expanded access for veterans to receive care at Rancho Los Amigos, which will be enhanced by the construction project.
