Cause’s Mission-Driven Approach in Action: 2023 Impact Report

For more than 45 years, Cause Communications has used the power of communications to advance issues and causes that matter. We deliver strategic counsel, practical tools and resources, and community-centered training programs using a unique braided approach that delivers better results.

Here are some highlights from our work in 2023 that reflect how Cause shows up every day.

We expanded access to communications tools for all. We grew the collection of tools on our website and distributed more than 10,000 resources to changemakers around the globe last year. Our most popular resource, the Communications Toolkit, remains the go-to guide for social impact communicators.
We increased our trainings to support more social impact communicators and nonprofits, helping 600 leaders amplify their own strengths and connect with one another. Topics ranged from media training and ethical storytelling to messaging and communications planning.
We added a Sacramento office. Joining our home base in downtown Los Angeles, in 2023 we opened a new office location in Sacramento. Both of Cause’s offices are co-located at The California Endowment’s Center for Healthy Communities, widely regarded as hubs for fostering connection, building community, and mobilizing change in California.
Our work was recognized for its impact. In 2023, our work received numerous awards and national recognition across a broad range of categories, from public awareness campaigns to visual design. These honors underscore the ways we bring creativity and collaboration to every partnership, helping organizations tell the story of their impact in fresh and effective ways.
We shared our learnings on community-led initiatives. Our case study, “To Build Shared Vision in Communities, Trust Them to Lead,” was published by NPQ and reached their audience of more than 400,000 nationwide.
We gave back to causes that matter. Our team contributed more than 1,700 pro bono hours in 2023 for causes ranging from mental health and housing security to leadership development and arts and culture.

We’re proud to partner with foundations, nonprofits, and public sector agencies to drive social change using “Communications for Good.” Here’s to even more impact together this year.
